Jacob Merner Staebler founded Staebler Insurance in Downtown Kitchener in 1873 (the town was then known as Berlin, Ontario).

Through the decades, our humble organization has moved offices to various locations in and around the downtown area, including many on King Street. Extending beyond the business of insurance, the Staebler family also had many connections to the downtown core. Learn more about the Staebler family’s rich history in the Kitchener-Waterloo Region.

Inspired by these strong historical roots in Kitchener, members of our Staebler 150 Committee created a Downtown Kitchener (DTK) History Crawl to recount former office locations, discover places of note related to the Staebler family, and highlight some other locally owned businesses along the way.

You’re invited to take the Staebler 150 DTK History Crawl! Get all the details on how to get started and experience first hand how the history of Staebler Insurance and Kitchener are so richly connected throughout our community: Staebler 150 Downtown Kitchener History Crawl – Staebler Insurance
